Enfield, Lee .308 No4 Mk1

Description

This No4 Mk1 was FTR’d in Fazakerly at a date unknown. The rifle was then upgraded as a 7.62mm target rifle by A.G.Parker, Birmingham in the early fifty’s. Purchased by TVG in 2018, it has been completely rebuilt with a “as new” 7.62mm heavy barrel, new Armalon scope mount, Sightron STAC 2-10x32 scope, tuned trigger and was fitted with a new thumbhole stock, fully bedded forend and has cerakoted tactical black finish. This rifle is in superb condition having been serviced, gauged, function/range tested, woodwork is all birch and is stamped with the customary UK proof marks. It is the only Enfield that I am aware off in the UK, that is fitted with a thumbhole stock and therefore has superior handling characteristics.

Receiver
Metalwork is in excellent condition, with no damage and a cerakote finish. Receiver markings consist of the No4 Mk1 logo, serial number, proof marks and  inspectors stamps. There is minimal wear to the receiver and the bolt cycles smoothly without any excess movement. Trigger is tuned and releases at 3lbs 1oz.

Bolt
The bolt has been gauged for correct headspace and firing pin protrusion. Bolt body and bolt head have the customary proof marks, with the bolt having matching numbers with the receiver. Bolt face is unmarked and the bolt head is a No2.

Barrel
Barrel and rifling is “as new” sharp, bright with a 11 degree inverted muzzle crown.  

Woodwork
The furniture is all birch, the butt assembly was made especially for this rifle and the forend has been restored, bedded, is in superb condition, with no fractures and the barrel is fully floating.
